Sorry the pictures are so grainy, I had to hurry and flash through a window. This little cat food bandit ate all the cat food and walked over to the water bowl for a drink. Leisurely. He has become a regular visitor. I wondered where my cat's food was going so fast. We no longer have a dog to run possums off. The cats won't do it, they will just sit by and watch them eat. I hate to say it but isn't that the ugliest creature? Looks like it's ear has been chewed on too.

10 Things I Discovered past Fifty

10. I was asleep one morning and woke up abruptly to the sound of snoring. I discovered that I was the only one in the house.
9. Examining my legs one day I noticed several hairs not shaved, I discovered I couldn't see that far anymore.
8. Examining my armpits closely with a magnifying mirror, I discovered missed hairs, yes, I can't see that close anymore also.
7. I bought a nosehair trimmer upon noticing those fellows too.
6. I discovered two hairs growing quite prolificly upon my chin which I have to constantly keep a tweezer on.
5. I discovered it is not always as easy to fall asleep and stay asleep when you want to.
4. Jars and jars of wrinkle remover and age refining cream don't actually work, they're just expensive.
3. Sneezing, laughing too hard, and jumping on trampolines can cause accidents!
2. Some days it seems that my stomach sticks out in the front as far as my butt does in the back!
1. The Number 1 thing I discovered is if you put a hair clippy on your cat's tail, you could end up with a fat lip if it flies off!

P.S. I almost forgot, (which makes this even funnier) walking back to another room to remember what you forgot is at least good exercise!!

If you can get past the singing, at the very end, he has a staring contest with a ram that is worth watching. I am sorry for the language of the rap songs. Ree is having a photo naming contest with two bulls. I think the line "You don't even blink, do you?" would be good for it.

My Cowboy

Isn't he cute? Destined to be a guitar player. I met my cowboy honey when we were in high school, even though we went to gradeschool and junior high at the same school. He is two years older than me, so I started noticing him in high school. I looked at him from a distance for a couple of years and then he graduated. Later, he noticed me because I used to walk down the county road that he drove to pick up his singer friend. He used to give me a ride when I was walking to work at the nursing home in town. He finally asked me on a date the summer before my senior year. After that we were inseparable. The picture below is my senior prom. He asked me to marry him the next year after I graduated. Of course I said "yes". How could I resist a hot guitar player? :)))

Breaking Down the Water Supply
Water is a common chemical substance, essential to all known forms of life. About 1,460,000,000,000,000 (1,460 trillion) tons of water covers 71% of the Earth’s surface, but relatively little is suitable for consumption. In many parts of the world, suitable water is in very short supply.

Let’s scale the world’s water supply to a size easier to comprehend like 58 gallons, about the same as a really full bathtub.

55 gallons of that water is saltwater ocean.
About 10 pounds of ice is locked in polar ice caps and glaciers.
About one drop is in the atmosphere as vapor, clouds, and precipitation.
Another drop is in our soil, and part of life itself (our bodies are made up mostly of water, for instance).
Our water sources:
Almost one gallon of that water is below ground in aquifers.
About four tablespoons is in surface water such as rivers and lakes.
Three-fourths of this is polluted or otherwise unavailable to us.
We are left with less than a liter of this water to live on.

History as it unfolds (Part I)

My mom and dad had my three brothers and me in 5 years. Four children in five years. We grew up pretty poor. I never felt that way though. My mother was very frugal and knew how to save money and stretch what she had and she also knew how to pray. She grew up during the depression years and World War II years and had went through times when food and gasoline were rationed. Her family was poor too, but better off than a lot of people. Her dad had a government job as a supervisor of the coal mines, so they had a car and a telephone when a lot of people did not. They also had very big gardens. She lived in southern Illinois and I guess you could say she was a coal miner's daughter. He got paid a pension for black lung later in life. He was a very strict man. Grandpa would doctor all nine of his children, gave them cod liver oil and swabbed their throats with iodine every winter whether they needed it or not. Mom's memories of this are not too happy, but she knew that he meant well. Grandpa ruled with an iron fist you might say, and she got some of that whether she needed it or not too. She says she got in trouble if the neighbor kids walked in his garden, she would get whipped. Life was pretty hard back then. Grandpa's mother's family was from Germany, the Kimmels. We are fifth cousins to Admiral Kimmel of Pearl Harbor fame. His great-great-grandpa and my (four) greats-grandpa were the same person.
I truly always thought my dad and mom had movie star good looks, like Paul Newman and Audrey Hepburn. My mom's name is Audrey. I thought my dad could do anything. I remember thinking that he could drive two cars at once, I think he gave me this idea. (he he) He spent several years in the army overseas in Germany during the Korean conflict and when he came home, he told my mom that he didn't want anyone bossing him around ever again.

How could anyone deny there is a creator God? Everything displays His splendour.

Guess who I saw at PF Chang's tonight?

As I said earlier in my last post, we were taking our kids to PF Chang's for dinner. As were we leaving, standing out front and saying our good-byes to them, guess who walks by? Ree and MM. I felt like saying "hi" but didn't since I don't really know her and that might be weird for her and him. Anyway, I was thinking "there's Pioneer Woman." She is tall and thin and very pretty with dimples and long hair. They make a lovely couple. We had such a good time with our kids and our daughter's boyfriends. The food and service was good too. Here's my lovely silk top that I wore. My son asked me if I was going as a clown! (He was joking). Say, don't you just love those pink walls? This was my daughter's bedroom that I have taken over now that she moved out. I am going to paint those walls an awesome shade of green someday.
