What happened the day you were born? Did you ever think about what your birthday shares with the rest of the years in your life? What happened then a tragedy, a funny stunt, or a sports phenomenon?
My birthday was August 4th, 1957. I was born on a Sunday in Enid, Oklahoma at 8:10 pm. I was born in St. Mary's Hospital. Here are some happenings on that day.
Births:
Lady Elizabeth Bowes-Lyon- Queen Elizabeth, the Queen Mother was born on this day in 1900.
Louis Armstrong was born on this day in 1901.
Percy Bysshe Shelley was born in 1792 on this day.
And last but not least the President of the United States, Barack Obama, was born on this day in 1961.
Here are some events (tragic ones) that happened on August 4th.
In 1892, Lizzie Borden axed her step-mother and her father 40 whacks!
Anne Frank and her family were captured in their annex by the German gestapo.
The First World War began on this day in 1914.
The number one song hit on this day was "Teddy Bear" by Elvis Presley.
The cover of Time magazine looked like this:
The best picture was "The Bridge over the River Kwai" starring William Holden. I always wondered why I loved this movie!

oh yeah.....I learned to drive on a one of those chevy's.
My brothers best friend took me out to the back roads and stopped on hills, etc, so I could learn to work those gears and clutch.
I wanted to clutch with him -- but he was just being a good friend. Teaching a stupid lil sis how to drive. heh heh.
I love it that you have your details down to the time...I have to keep asking my Mom and she vaguely remember the time! LOL
WOW! Junebug you are a superstar. Way to dig deep (and admit your age!) I wish I'd had more time to complete mine, but we had a death in the family so we spent all day yesterday dealing with the fallout. Thanks for playing. It always makes it a ton of fun when someone goes the extra mile and really 'plays' hard! I love it and it inspires me to find out some of the cool things about the year I was born too!
Interesting facts about your B.date. The 57 chevy I remember well.
Great post. Fancy sharing your birthday with the President and the Queen Mother!
Lots of things happened on your birth date ! On mine nothing, that's why I gave up and choose something else.
That was probably the most beautiful car ever!!
That '57 Chevy Bel Air is my FAVORITIST. CAR. EVAH!!!!
PS
Your mother is STUNNING!! As are you, my dear!
I enjoyed the trip through you significant day, Junebug. And aren't you Miss Originality for the different ways you shared your day! Good job.
BTW, thanks so much for sharing the Postcrossing project. I just signed up and am looking forward to selecting postcards to go to the U.K., Holland, Finland, Germany and Taiwan. Love getting postcards from all over and bringing them home as trip souvenirs.
