Fun Monday

Candid Karina and her lovely little Meez self would like to know what your security blanket is, what you can't leave home without, and we're not talking about Mastercard.

Ok. You see these sunglasses? I can't leave home without them, not at all, have to, absolutely have to have them, even in the shade I still get glare. Ever since I had lasik eye surgery, my eyes have drastically needed protection from the sun. Sometimes I have had to put two pairs on when I am driving into the sun, I just can't find a pair dark enough. I need some illegal shades, do they make them? I also need my lipstick. It is Clinque Black Honey at the moment. Must have it. And where would I be without my purse? I'd be at home with it. Seriously. If I have to narrow it down, my wallet might suffice, but I would be feeling deprived.

Cool shades. How did the Lasik surgery work for you besides dealing with brightness of the sun?

I love being able to see when I first wake up and no more contacts!!!! My eyes are drier and glare is bad, but I have one eye corrected for near and one for far. Which I think if I had to do over, I might have just corrected both for far and wore reading glasses if necessary. I am not positive on that point though. I'm glad I got it done because my vision was very near-sighted and could not see at all without contacts or glasses.

I'm completely with you on the sunglasses. I practically put them on to get the mail off the porch.

I added the link for chicken poop to my post if you want to check it out.

Did you have to stay awake for the Lasik?

Junebug said...

Thanks for the link. I do put my sunglasses on to go to my mailbox but it is about 100 feet away.
Yes, you are awake during lasik, they dope you up on Xanax and you're very relaxed, but you have to cooperate and stare at a red dot. They put things in your eyes to hold them open cause believe me you try your best to close them!!

Those are very cool shades. I need a good pair.

Junebug said...

Thanks, Serina, they are Oakley's. I had to buy a good pair. I try to take care of them by keeping them in their bag, but don't always succeed.

I was just talking to my husband about having Lasik surgery. I didn't realize that your eyes became sensitive to light afterward. Very interesting.

Oh, and a great Fun Monday Post!

hmmm. i wear one near and one far contact lens. i've thought about lasik but it kinda scares me and i didnt know you could do the near/far thing.

my problem is i actually have perfect close vision and i would hate hate hate having to wear reading glasses. do you really think you'd do it the other way if you were to have a do-over?

Lasik surgery for me too and I absolutely loved it!! No problems with the sun though but I do know some people who have had that problem. The shades look cool though!

i agree with pamela. i am dying to hear a real person's opinion about lasik. i have really awful eyes and would consider getting them done soon before i have kids, because without my glasses i am really blind and it would be nice to #1 not have to put them on to feed, change, etc. and #2 not to have them constantly yanked off my face as babies are so prone to do. i have blogger but feel free to email me at meeces dot pieces at gmail dot com i would love to hear your input

I forgot sunglasses!
(I haven't had Lasik, but since I got contacts my eyes are really sensitive to the sun, too.)

Beckie: I don't think everyone has this sensitive to light problem with Lasik, but some do. Maybe it has to do with my being older, I was 46. I was beginning to have sensitivity before and the dryness of my eyes after made it worse.
Janet: I probably would still have one near and one far corrected. I just wish sometimes that both eyes saw clearly far.
Joy t. and Hootin'anni: Thank you, I will visit.
Jill: I will e-mail you about it. My daughter is 24 and she wants to have Lasik. I think you need to be in your twentys for your vision to quit changing and stabilize.

Great shades! and good on you for the lasik. My husband had his eyes done (the 2nd one was actually his Christmas present last year) and just loves it!

After the lasik I was (am) a bit light sensitive too.

I thought it was just me.

I forgot sunglasses! How could I forget? I actually keep a pair of prescription sunglasses in my car, so that I'm never without them (because I pretty much drive everywhere).

The light sensitivity is the main reason I won't consider lasik...I'm already super sensitive to light, so I'd hate to make it worse, I might have to turn into a vampire and only go out at night if I do! ;-)

Tiggerlane said...

I NEVER can keep a pair sunglasses. I just break them all the time. If I had your condition, I'd have to get permanently darkened contacts!

Kaytabug said...

Sunglasses are a must for me! I am too chicken to do lasik. High 5 to you!

Junebug said...

Karina and Tigger: I know I feel like a vampire sometimes. People don't always understand, I have been in some very bright rooms and felt I needed sunglasses. At the dentists when they tip you back and turn the bright light in your face, I have to close my eyes. My mother has glaucoma and she also is very sensitive to light. I get checked regularly and I have very good eye pressure, I thank God!

I haven't had eye surgery and I am still sensitive to bright lights. i ALWAYS have my shades and if I forget, there will be a migraine to follow. I feel your pain.

I have not had surgery, but I always need my shades.

Happy to see you :o)

You're a doll...and I don't have a security blanket.

Great photo~ I know what you mean about sensitive eyes my eyes being pale blue can't tolerate too much bright light, but I don't need to wear dark glasses all the time.

My shades are stapled to my head. And, even then, I don't always manage to find them. Good call.

If you click the link on my blogroll for Suzi Q Bags, you'll find purses like mine. She's a friend and they are only about $40-45. I get a discount so not quite sure the exact amount.

Being purse snobs will rob the bank, but hers are reasonable. And they hold up. I just washed one of my other ones and it looks as good as new. Kinda of a Vera Bradley type bag.

Like the shades and what a cool name for a lipstick!!! My MIL has one called "But officer!"

Look forward to seeing you next week!

Pamela said...

that is scary about the surgery causing you to be so sun intolerant.

I have quite the time with sun, too.
I have to have sun glasses than enclose completely so no light can confuse my eyes.

love the shades, mine spend more time on my head then my face. I lost my most expensive "headband", a pair of tiger striped Oakleys on a trail ride with my horse...lol

Love the lipstick choice, very complimentary

That's it? That's all you need? :)

I've heard that people sometimes have light issues after having the Lasik Eye surgery. Hope you can find some that work well for you.

Gosh - it's so interesting how many people say "sunglasses" ! Very good to protect our eyes ...

That's a lovely picture of you!

Donna and Melissa: Thank you for the compliments. You both are lovely. And I'm glad to get to blog with you.
