Friday Freedom


I visited New York City in the summer of 1973.

Was it made in Paris ?

Yes, the statue was constructed and assembled in Paris and shipped to New York. Auguste Bartholdi was the sculptor.

I flew into New York on a midnight flight.

Woke up to see the Lady from my window. I was ecstatic.

That was very interesting. Thank you for posting that. I've never seen the Statue of Liberty or been to New York for that matter. Jeez, I gotta get out into the world!

I remember visiting Paris and seeing a miniature replica of Ms Liberty - telling me the French either are proud of being associated with Americans or as sad they gave the really big one away... NLM
