Fun Monday-Good Memories

Fun Monday is being hosted by Molly of Return of the
White Robin.  She wants us to share a happy memory
of our childhood.

One of my favorite childhood memories was shopping with
my mother in a nearby town. It was a wonderful way to
spend a day. We'd shop and get ice cream at a drugstore
soda shop with the old fashioned counter. Here is a link
to the post with pictures.

Thanks for the reminder of a great childhood memory for me as well--going "to town" with my mother, shopping, and getting a shake in the drugstore.

Yes, those drug-store soda fountains do have wonderful memories. I wonder where they went...replaced by Mickey D's I guess

I used to love seeing those old fashioned drug store counters in movies we didn't have them here. I didn't ever get to shop much with my mother because my parents owned a shop that she ran from when I was 8-16. I do recall taking a bus to town (20 miles away), occasionally, during the holidays on a Weds which was her half day! I'd forgotten this until you jogged my memory!

We would always 'go to town' - I think it was a leftover saying from my Mother's youth because we lived in town!

We, too, would go to town and sometimes - we would go to the "big" town...lol.

Mothers are so important to our past. Sometimes, we might have even known that as we passed that time and space in our lives.

I love your picture! What a great memory! Ice cream always tastes sweeter when you are having it with someone else.

I'm with Chrisb. I used to love seeing them in films, but we didn't have them here. Lovely memories.

Loved your Fun Monday post. I didn't shop much with my Mom because we lived way out in the country and only had one car most of my childhood. I do remember the first clothing item I bought with my own money. I was in the
7th grade and I hid it for a week because it cost $5.00 (hideous amount) and had no ruffles on it- so I knew my Mom wouldn't like it. I still remember exactly the colors and design of it.
Have a great week.
