A Major Award

You know how much I like the word "fragile" and this award is very "fra-gi-le."  It came packed in a big, big box with lots of paper.  I could even get inside the box!  And so could my cat.  My new blogger friend Kitten decided to bestow this honor upon me.  What a great Christmas time treat.  We watch this movie continuously on Christmas Day.

I am passing this award to:
Jeanette-she's on the net
KellyJean-she always makes me laugh
Deborah-she has the best recipes

Go forth and celebrate!  You've won a major award!

Pensieve's Poetic License-December

The theme for December's poetry is Cinquain-Celebration! Come and join Pensieve's Poetic License this month.  Here is my attempt:
We Are
Humans
Pale, frail
Being, breathing, living
Going through the motions
Fragile.

Weekly Winners Sunday Meme

Lotus has moved herself to Wordpress and taken Weekly Winners along
for the ride. I followed her instructions on creating her buttons on my
page and I am happy to say it worked.
Here are some pictures to enjoy from this cold past week:

Louis Armstrong - What A Wonderful World

Have a bright blessed day....

What a Wonderful World

I see trees of green, red roses too
I see them bloom for me and you
And I think to myself what a wonderful world.

I see skies of blue and clouds of white
The bright blessed day, the dark sacred night
And I think to myself what a wonderful world.

The colors of the rainbow so pretty in the sky
Are also on the faces of people going by
I see friends shaking hands saying how do you do
They're really saying I love you.

I hear babies crying, I watch them grow
They'll learn much more than I'll never know
And I think to myself what a wonderful world
Yes I think to myself what a wonderful world.

C'est Si Bon

This song reminds me of my dad. We used to watch Dean Martin together. I would always ask him, what does 'C'est si bon' mean? He would laugh and never really tell me.

Debonair Dad

Here is my dad at age 45, the day I got married.  How debonair, kind of
like Dean Martin?

Ornament from Austria

My daughter brought this ornament home to me on
Christmas 2004.  She had been in Croatia for 5 months
working as a nanny for some Wesleyan missionaries.
She got to visit Austria during Christmas and go to their
Christmas market (Christkindlmarkt) in Vienna.

More ice pics (picks)

Aren't the calves cute?  They were slipping and sliding
on the ice.

Power Outage

Luckily for us the power outage was only 24 hours.
They had an estimate of 10 days to 3 weeks.  Oh my God,
that would have been horrible.  I don't know yet what
has made the difference, I just hope and pray it stays on!
Most of the state had been without power.  We were
fortunate to have a couple of gas heaters in the living
room and one bedroom or we would have been very cold.
We also have a gas stovetop so I could cook by candle
light which I did.

Here are the iced trees.  Not quite as good as iced teas.

I also wanted to show you my new Hunter boots that came
from Nordstrom's just in time for the wintery weather.
My feet remained dry and warm as I stepped outside
several times these past two wet and icy days.  See, Nin!

More Christmas

Daughter Melissa's ornament.  She collects pigs.

Daughter Rebecca's ornament.  She collects elephants.

Son John's ornament.  He liked green things like frogs
and turtles.
Fun Monday Post is still below.

Word Verification

For those of you with word verification I got this one recently from Rechelle's.
f e d o x h b

Now do you think that might be the real name for Fed Ex?

Fed Ox and then hb could stand for homeboys?

Just my sad attempt at humor....

Fun Monday is still below this post.

Fun Monday

Kaytabug is our host this week
giving us these instructions.

Here are rules:
"In the spirit of the season I would like to see your favorite Christmas
tree ornament.  Not to be confused with the WHOLE tree.  I want
you to zoom in and show me one or a few (you know I can't choose
just one!) of your favorite ornaments.  If you don't decorate a tree,
show me your menorah or dreidel, Kinara, or Yule Log.  I want to
see your favorite decoration for this holiday season."

This first picture is my angel on the tree top.

This bulb was made by glass artisans in Egypt.
Of course, I didn't go there to get it. ;.D
I love being able to see the lights through it.

This glass ornament is painted on the inside.  I can
only imagine how hard that would be to do.
Next week's hostess will be the sweet Kitten.
I hope everyone has a blessed and Fun Monday.

Look at our ice

It is pretty but treacherous.
